This is a bit of a departure for me as this topic is not about Big Moor and is not even in Derbyshire!  Nottinghamshire had a recent visit from a hoopoe which is a rare sight anywhere in the UK.  I have seen several amazing photos of this bird taken recently but I think this one tops the lot, not just for photos of a hoopoe, but bird photos in general –

The picture was taken by a local wildlife photographer, Simon Richardson and his work is worth searching for if this is your sort of thing.  In one week several thousand people viewed this image and you can tell why.
