For the last few weeks I have tried to photograph the siskin (with limited success), feeding along with redpolls on the seeds of the alder trees on the edge of Barbrook Plantation. The redpolls have a red patch on their head:
I think the siskins must have given up on me because at least 2 of them have decided to visit us in Chesterfield during the last few days. Here they are along with the other stars from Adam’s garden so far this winter:
I don’t think our resident blackcap was too impressed :
